Core Values

Core values are your guiding light when it comes to decision making and how to live the life you want to live. These values can be different for other aspects of your life like training, business and relationships but I think as you explore your own core values in each of these domains you will see some strong carry over.

For me personally the values I’ve listed below are sort of my compass for navigating through my life and my career in many ways. I have also found that almost each and everyday I have had to use these values. Here are my 5 core values (as of now) and a little bit about what they mean to me:

  • Integrity: being honest and forthright even when it is not convenient or easy. To display and have strong moral principles.
  • Learn and Pass On: to be a lifelong learner and maintaining a white belt mentality so I can better myself and the people I care about.
  • Take Action: to act positively and decisively to solve a problem. Dont’ sit back and rest on my laurels or allow bad situations to paralyze my decision making.
  • Patience: to understand that all things take time. The focus should stay on the process and not solely on the end goal.
  • Have Fun: don’t take life too seriously. We all need time to step back and just laugh and live in the moment.

It’s important for me to share these things with you because I want you (yes you) to know about who I am and what I stand for. I’m not going to beat around the bush, I’m going to tell you what I think to the best of my ability, in the nicest way possible of course.

I’m going to challenge myself and you to learn new things and get out of your comfort zone. We are lied to so much everyday when it comes to strength training and the “Fitness Industry”. It’s up to us to form our own opinions and be critical about what we are told and not just accept that because celebrity trainer “X” trains celebrity “Y” and they got jacked by doing this 3.5 day juice cleanse, HIIT, Tabata hybrid training program that we should hop on board too.

I’m going to take action to make myself better and help make you better as often as I can. The worst thing in the world we can do is sit idle and be stagnant when there’s so much out there we can pursue.

Probably the hardest thing in the world about this whole training thing is being patient. This is a process that lasts a lifetime with goals mixed in. The point of doing what we do is to better ourselves everyday not just hop on the latest fitness trend. Consistency and perseverance are the real magic bullet to achieving your goals.

And we are going to have fun doing it damn it! I take your progress (and mine) very seriously but hell, if you’re not having some fun along the way then you just ain’t livin’.

So I encourage you, take some time and explore your own core values. Find out what’s important to you and take some steps towards it everyday.
